1. We provide innovative and life-changing support through our network of almost 300 local services and projects in the UK. In addition, we work in 52 countries worldwide.

2. We support all disabilities including people with physical and sensory impairments, people with learning disabilities, children, older people and people with an acquired brain injury.

3. We give disabled people the opportunity to live life their way. The needs and aspirations of the people who use our services are at the heart of all that we do.

4. We campaign for change! We work with disabled people to break down the physical, social and attitudinal barriers that prevent genuine equality.

Cathy Black

Meet Cathy Black; Ladies Captain at Brocket Hall Golf Club, Hertfordshire.

Cathy nominated us as her club’s Charity of the Year for 2009 and as a result raised an amazing £15,000 for Leonard Cheshire Disability.

Cathy was inspired by the stories of her two friends who had benefited from our support at a difficult time. One of her friends had a fall and needed a wheelchair, and the other was looking for a care at home service. Cathy says:

“In both cases the difference Leonard Cheshire Disability made to their lives was amazing.”

Cathy’s fantastic fundraising efforts included organising charity raffles and a Pro-Am tournament. After the end of her year of fundraising, she said,

”I’m absolutely delighted. It was well worth organising it all – a great result!”
